The 9/11 Attacks

 The 9/11 Attacks

9/11 was a horrible time for many people. According to Wikipedia, about 3,000 people were killed in the attacks, and 6,000 were injured. There weren’t many survivors, but there are enough to share their stories and experiences of 9/11. 9/11 took place in New York, September 11. Terrorists attacked buildings during this time because they couldn’t destroy the military, so they decided to do this.

There are many books about 9/11 and all of them describe the events of this very well. Britannica states that Al-Qaeda planned these attacks, but had help from Khalid Mohammed. He thought of the idea to hijack planes to attack the United States. The text says, “The attacks against New York City and Washington, D.C., caused extensive death and destruction and triggered an enormous U.S. effort to combat terrorism.” This explains how horrible and tragic 9/11 was.

People have researched 9/11 for years and have made videos describing the time period. News reports have also made it their job to have 9/11 be well known, therefore there are many facts within videos they make. Although researchers of 9/11 didn’t experience this, there is a lot of information. WION on YouTube made a video discussing 9/11. They stated that “The World Trade Center and all the lives that have been lost will be remembered.” This shows how significant 9/11 was, and how much of an impact this made.

Luckily, there are survivors of 9/11. Brian Clark was one of the 18 people that survived from where he was working. Clark made a plan to escape, and he did it. He came out with injuries but was still alive. This survivor provides hope and information about his experience. “Life is precious, I tell them. It can be gone in an instant.” Brian has said. According to Wikipedia, another survivor named Stanley Praimnath shares his story. He also escaped after the building was sliced in half.

Now, we will see the causes and everything leading up to 9/11. As stated, these terrorists wanted to make a horrible impact on the USA. They couldn’t do much to hurt the military, so they wanted to hurt the citizens by giving them sadness and pain. At the time, the USA hated the terrorists, and the terrorists wanted their revenge. This is why 9/11 happened.

In the end, we can see how horrible 9/11 was and is. It is still affecting the survivors, and all the people we have lost. It’s brought sadness and shame upon people. After this, people should see how horrible this is and not let it happen again. In conclusion, we see why 9/11 happened, and more facts about it.

There are currently similar attacks to 9/11 happening right now. Our president, Joe Biden is trying to fix this. There was a mess-up in the system, and there’s war and trouble. Things like this happen, and hopefully, it won’t turn into anything worse. This can hurt people, and I hope it doesn’t. This is happening in Kabul.

Reflection:

The two secondary sources I used were a YouTube video, and an article about 9/11. Primary sources were quotes and articles by the survivors of 9/11. Both of these sources were the same because they both spoke about 9/11 directly. But they were different because of the authors and tone. I know these sources were credible because it has a lot of facts to back it up. And, it was written by people educated about 9/11. The tone of the article written by the survivors seemed sadder and realistic. The structures were different because they were written by different people, and had different goals for each article. The point of view would switch throughout the articles, videos, and voice essays. Each type was useful because it would show new perspectives through different writings.
